Alexandra Lodge Guest House

We loved our stay. The room was clean, simple, and cozy, just as advertised, and check-in and checkout were quick and easy. The place is in Hoole, just outside Chester, with easy access to the city by public or private transport, or about a 20-ish minute walk. They also gave us a treasure hunt around Hoole that led us into the city in a fun way.

Gill, the owner, is lovely and keeps the house in great shape. She cleans every room daily and is very thorough. This guest house is well maintained and refreshed each day. It sits in a great spot, with restaurants, cafes, local parks, Chester train station, and Chester town centre all just minutes away. The town is worth visiting for its quaint tuder buildings and plenty of walkways and small garen stop spots to sit and relax. The rooms are very clean, with new furnishings, modern sinks and a dressing mirror, clean carpeting, smart TVs, and comfortable beds. There's a microwave and fridge to use, several shower rooms, and some rooms have en suite showers. There's a reasonably priced laundrette about five minutes away, plus gyms nearby if needed. Compared with other guest houses in the area, some of which are more business orientated, Alexandra guest house feels better looked after. The owner has years of experience and is conscientious about everything. It's also better priced than most. Staying here makes touring Chester easy, while you're in a nice residential area.

Gillian is such a friendly, lovely host, and the room and bathroom were absolutely spotless. My room was bright and cheerful, too. The bed was super comfy, and with the windows shut it was wonderfully quiet, even right beside a very busy road. I'd highly recommend staying here. If you like dogs, you might even get to meet Daisy. She's worth 5 stars on her own! 😊

The owner rang the evening before we left to wish us well with the baby, since my wife is pregnant, and to thank us for staying. She hoped we'd managed to do everything we'd planned. I thought that was a really thoughtful touch. We felt welcome from the moment we arrived. We booked a double room for my wife and me, and the service was excellent. Would highly recommend, and we'll definitely come back.
