Hotel Indigo Chester by IHG

I loved my 12-night stay at Indigo in Chester this February (2026), visiting from Australia. I'm originally from Chester and know the city centre hotels pretty well, having stayed at The Grosvenor, Leonardo and Oddfellows among others. Indigo was no comparison to those experiences, and I'd come back without a second thought. After 24 hours of flying, I was glad that check-in was quick and friendly, with no wait for my room. Sophie on the desk was lovely. The hotel has a warm, stylish interior, with an inviting lobby and bar beside the destination restaurant. My room was big, bright and spotless, with possibly the world's most comfortable, huge mattress. The amenities were all there, and the soft drinks and snacks were a nice touch, replenished every day. The room service team were lovely too. Everyone was so friendly, which was a nice change from grumpy old farts. Nothing was too much hassle. A bucket of ice arrived within minutes and room service in about 15 minutes. The whole team were bright, articulate and good spirited. Even watching them help other guests at reception while I waited for my Uber, I thought what a kind bunch of employees Indigo has found. The Forge is a destination in its own right, with incredible steak and delicious food. I even heard Ryan Reynolds had visited for the steak while he was in Wrexham. It's an 8-minute walk from Chester train station and about the same into town. Grosvenor park and the river Dee are next door, and Waitrose, M&S, Boots, Primark and Starbucks are only a 5-minute walk away, if that. Thank you!

We only stayed one night to meet friends, and the hotel was lovely, in a good spot within walking distance of Main Street and tourist locations. The room was lovely and clean, thanks to Pauline and Gary. We had a delicious dinner and the staff were mostly amazing, always smiling and clearly caring. Special thanks to Chloe, Steph, Liam, Shaun, Sophie, Luke and Chris. At breakfast the next morning, Hein looked after us well. We'd definitely recommend it, a lovely stay.

The staff were so welcoming and helpful, and the breakfast set us up perfectly for the day. Our room was gorgeous and kept spotlessly clean. Such a beautiful hotel.

My partner and I spent one night here, and the staff were super kind and helpful, accommodating all our requests. Liam at the bar was especially lovely and charismatic. He made us delicious cocktails and gave me an espresso martini recipe I'm excited to try. They made the stay feel special, and I'd more than recommend it.
