The Museum Inn

We had a lovely overnight break with our dog. The feature room was spacious, quiet, and had a huge, comfortable bed. Both dinner and breakfast were tasty, with good quality ingredients, and we really appreciated the breakfast sausage for our dog. The pub is cosy, with a fire, and there’s a separate residents’ lounge with another open fire and board games. Staff were attentive without hovering, and the beer and wine were good too. We’ve stayed at four Butcombe pubs now and are enjoying the brand and the Loyalty Club rewards.

The village was lovely and peaceful, and the staff at a The Museum Inn were helpful and accommodating. I slept well in the big bed with comfortable pillows, and the room was dark at night. The shower and bath option was good, and breakfast the next morning was nice too.

We really enjoyed staying here, and would come back to Museum Inn. It’s in a pretty Dorset village, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The room was very clean, with a comfortable bed and plenty of tea and coffee. There was a good choice at breakfast and for the evening meal, and the food and drink were excellent. Very dog friendly as well.

The free electric car charging was a nice surprise, and the loyalty card offers made the stay good value. This is a historic old inn with plenty of character, a good range of food and drinks, and exceptional service. The room was looking worn in a few spots, particularly the bathroom decor. Food was mixed: the specials were very good, while the pie of the day was mediocre. We ate on Sunday evening, and many menu items had sold out.
