The Fox Goes Free

The food looked carefully put together and tasted just as good. We were served at a comfortable pace and never felt hurried, which made our Christmas Eve meal with my two grown-up children especially enjoyable. It’s become a little family tradition to visit, and we were glad we chose to spend our time here. We sat in the snug beside the fire; the warmth and soft crackle made it feel lovely. Time with family matters, and this was a good place to spend it.

After a long day on our bikes, we arrived tired and hungry and the team took wonderful care of us. The manager let us store the bikes, found us a hose, and seated us by the fire for a great meal. He even arranged an early breakfast so we could get going early the next morning. Such a great pub. We’ll come back as soon as we can.

The ice cream was the one small disappointment after an otherwise lovely meal. At £7+ for three scoops, I expected a proper bowl, but the portions were tiny, almost golf-ball sized. The other desserts were gorgeous and sensibly sized. The setting and staff were lovely, and everything else was very good. It’s a little pricey, perhaps slightly more than the food warrants, though not terrible value. Thanks for having us, we had a very good meal overall.

Our team has been full of praise since Friday’s Christmas work lunch at The Fox. The room looked beautiful and made a lovely setting for the celebration, and the food was delicious at every course. The staff were friendly, attentive and professional, so the day felt easy and special. Thanks to everyone for the care and hard work that went into it. We couldn’t have asked for a better venue or service, and we’ll certainly recommend The Fox and look forward to coming back.
