We love the attic room and the village, and we've stayed here about five times. The staff were the best this visit, both women we spoke with on arrival and in the morning were lovely. Food is still the letdown. We keep hoping it will improve, but it always seems to be missing something, and breakfast wasn't great this time. The menu can feel too different for its own good. Sometimes you just want the classics done well, like regular beans and salmon instead of smoked trout, and brioche doesn't belong with breakfast for me.

The rooms are amazing for a country pub, just right for a long weekend away. The staff were engaging and lovely, with a good sense of humour, and the food was delicious. Try the ice cream, it's unbelievably smooth. There's a small car park, with on-street parking after that. We've lived around the corner for years and only just made it here. What a treat. We'll definitely be back.

The place had a lovely atmosphere and decor, and the service was nice. The meal was a real disappointment. Beef dumplings had okay flavour but were so dry they tasted stale. The burger bun was burnt and dry enough to fall apart, the patty was overcooked, and the onion rings were mostly grease and thick batter, so I couldn't eat them. The chips were huge, soggy wedges. I expected more from the kitchen.

The food was sensational, and the atmosphere and decorations were just perfect. My husband and I came in December for our anniversary and were treated so generously, with a beautiful table and attentive service all evening.

I was looking forward to visiting, but a short call with Tracey took all the excitement away. I cancelled my reservation after her impatient, unfriendly manner on the phone. I only wanted to book by phone because I needed a little extra room at the table for our elderly rescue dog, and hoped to make it special for my Mum's birthday. She didn't seem to care about that. She kept redirecting me to the website, then said things like "yes but it is a restaurant" sarcastically. When I asked if bringing the dog was okay, she just repeated "yes fine" and seemed eager to get rid of me. When I called back to cancel, she didn't ask why and again just wanted me off the phone. I'm really saddened by the whole thing and don't want to go near the place now.
