The location was nice and the receptionist was lovely. I arrived on the evening of Friday, 30th January, and things were satisfactory until we tried the shower. It was in an unacceptable state, with black hairs in it, as if someone had shaved and left it dirty. I rinsed them down the drain, but partway through my shower the water suddenly stopped and turned freezing cold. I told reception, and the staff member was very kind and promptly offered us another room. Unfortunately that room was worse: the shower and bed were dirty, and the bedding had brown stains all over it. When I went back, the same staff member personally cleaned the room so we could use the shower. Not a great stay overall, but the woman gave really nice customer service.

We’ve stayed here several times. It makes a handy base for travelling elsewhere, with a spacious room and plenty of room for luggage. There’s a reasonable amount of parking tucked behind the pub. The friendly staff were able to fit us in at short notice.

I’m not sure why it has a one-star rating, based on my stay. Our room was large and bright, with a comfortable bed. The bath and shower worked well and had good water pressure. The staff we met were friendly and informative, and there’s a nearby pub serving food. Parking is free. For the price, I thought it was good value.

Everything was fine apart from finding the hotel. It sits down in a dip behind a pub, and the entrance is reached through the pub’s car park. From there you can’t see the hotel, and there aren’t clear directions, just a sign into the car park. We, and probably most people, had to go into the pub to ask. The staff were clearly used to this and pointed us to a driveway at the far end of the car park that leads to the hotel.

The room was very clean and large, and the shower was excellent. Although it’s right on the Chorley/Preston road, it was quiet. There’s a bus stop outside, with buses roughly every 15 minutes, and plenty of taxis. Goddard pub restaurant is 30 yards away.
