The Kings Arms

We all enjoyed our meal at restaurant 18, and Chantelle was brilliant with us. The British Burrata with Isle of Wight tomatoes and Sicilian pesto was a standout. I’m trying to recreate it at home. We also loved the Spider Crab & Saffron Croqueta, King Prawn & Crab Pappardelle and Panko Halloumi. Give the place a try.

The staff were warm, welcoming and attentive, and the rooms were fresh, clean and had what we needed. Lunch and breakfast were good, though it’s a shame they don’t serve dinner. There are plenty of nearby options, around twenty restaurants, so finding somewhere to eat was easy. Booking through the hotel gets you a 10% discount. The location was lovely too.

Right in the town centre, with amenities close by, this is a very pleasant place to stay. Our room was quiet and the bed comfortable. Breakfast was very good, and you can book dinner in the restaurant or get food in the bar.

We booked breakfast again for our party of three, hoping it would be as good as it had been four days earlier. Sadly, the continental selection was much poorer this time. When we asked, we were told the hotel had had a busy morning, so the meat, cheese and several cereals weren’t out. It left us feeling that, as non-guests, we bore the impact of the hotel being busy. We won’t be back any time soon.
