It’s only about a nine-minute walk from the station and a stone’s throw from the pier. We’d booked this at the last minute after our plan to stay at a caravan park fell through, and the place was a huge, happy surprise. We had the Superior Double Room, which turned out to be the Bridal Suite. It was so lovely, and the room had been decorated for us. There was a little card and some Rosé on the table, such a sweet personal touch. My husband and I really appreciated it and felt so welcome. The bathroom was huge and very clean, with both a bath and a shower. I always check that first, and it didn’t disappoint. The room was clean too. It was a bit dated, but that added to its charm. We also loved the little balcony, where we could sit and relax. The bed was beautifully made up with little swan plushies and heart-shaped balloons tied to the foot of it. It was genuinely so sweet. The hotel has a lot of charm, and the staff were clearly hardworking. We saw the same lovely group over our three days there. We even spotted them ironing the sheets early one morning, and found out they’d put the card in our room too. My husband and I felt refreshed after our weekend there. We’d definitely stay again when we come back to Clacton. Thank you so much, Pier Hotel team.

Becky, who’s in charge, is hardworking, friendly and supportive. The location is nice, close to the seashore, Clacton Pier and the town centre.

I booked a bit last minute after a well-known local hotel let me down. Becky was really helpful from the start. I can’t remember the room name, but I was in number 10. It had everything I needed and was clean. I was only there for one night, but I’d definitely stay again.

We didn’t hear much from our room except the seagulls, which is what you’d expect at a seafront hotel. The pier is about 30 seconds away and the town is two minutes away, so the location is brilliant. We were lucky to get one of the two parking spaces. At busy times you’ll need to park off-site, which is a downside. We stayed in the Superior Double, the bridal suite, and the room was perfect, really spacious, with a nice sofa, a big bed and a bathroom with both a shower and a bath. There were lovely little extras too, like shower gels, bubble bath and lotions, with about three types to choose from. The outside area had a table and chairs, plus sun loungers, though the weather meant we couldn’t use them. The only thing that bothered us was having just a clothes rail for storage, and not enough hangers. We didn’t mind too much because everything else was so good. A lovely lady greeted us at the front desk and showed us to our room. We’d definitely recommend staying here.

The staff were so friendly and helpful, and the rooms were spotless and quiet. I can’t remember the last time I slept that well. After a day of travelling, it was lovely to relax in a comfy bed and watch TV. My husband and I were visiting family, and the location was perfect, close to everything we needed. We’d definitely book again.
