Really good, tasty food, though it can be a little expensive. The portions are massive! Staff were very pleasant, and it’s a lovely pub. I’ve stayed in the outside rooms, which are nice. Would definitely recommend.

We got attentive service from the bar staff, who checked that the food and service were all okay. There was plenty of free parking beside the building, which sits in a very picturesque location. We also had a short walk along the road from the pub/hotel on a lovely spring afternoon. We came across the Calf's Head by chance and stopped to see if food was available. The staff welcomed us and took us to a spacious conservatory with lovely views of the countryside. The menu had a great selection. We chose an all-day breakfast and braised steak with a good range of vegetables and new potatoes. Both were beautifully presented, cooked really well and delicious. Great service throughout, good value and a great location. Highly recommend, and we hope to call in for food again when we’re next in the area.

The food was fantastic for everyone in our group of seven, with a wide mix of dishes, and the prices were reasonable. We went for food on Bank Holiday Sunday, when it was exceptionally busy, but the staff looked after us very well. They were exceptionally polite and helpful, and seemed well staffed, focused and organised. Ben from behind the bar was particularly helpful with putting out the ramp for one guest in a wheelchair. I was especially impressed by whoever organises the staff and their responsibilities. They did an exceptional job. I never write reviews, but felt compelled to give a shout-out for a job well done!

The staff were lovely and made sure we had everything we needed. The food was really good too, and it was an absolutely marvellous afternoon. Such a lovely setting, and an easy drive from Preston.

The breakfast was one of the best my daughter and I have had in a hotel, and the staff were so friendly and helpful. We stayed in Room 2, which was lovely and spacious, and the old building has loads of character. The bathroom felt dated, and I couldn't open the windows, so I took off a star. Still, it's definitely on my list for a return visit.
