It’s quiet at night and the location is great, but the prices are way too high. You can find much better, cheaper campsites nearby. Charging £5 per dog each night and £10 a night for a hookup is shocking, especially with such poor facilities. We won’t be back. We found a brilliant site just down the road.
The setting is stunning, and the staff were friendly, but the prices really let the stay down. We paid £47 for one night of camping, even though the pool wasn’t available and the restaurant and bar were shut when we arrived. I understand it was out of season, but the rate should reflect that when facilities aren’t open. They’d get more customers with more reasonable off-season prices.
We came back for a lovely evening, 12 years after getting engaged here. The rooms were still clean and tidy, and looked just as they did before. Since there weren’t many guests, they took our dinner order before we went to the restaurant, which I thought was a great idea. The food was outstanding.
The setting is unique, and we really enjoyed our stay. Our room was spacious and comfortable, with an en-suite. The staff were helpful and friendly, and the food was delicious and reasonably priced. We’re looking forward to visiting again.
The grounds are wonderful, and the historic building has loads of character. It’s comfortable and quirky, a real treat to stay in. The rooms are all different, with some especially spacious ones that have high ceilings and big windows. It’s not a modern luxury hotel, but you get more than your money’s worth here. I stay twice a year for a music event, and having this hotel nearby makes it my favourite event. I know other people feel the same way. The staff are welcoming, friendly and helpful. Hay-on-Wye is really close too, and it’s a lovely little town to explore.
