Halfway Hotel

We picked this hotel because it was really convenient for the event we went to at Emporium, just a few minutes away on foot. The rooms were clean and spacious.

I rarely leave a review unless a stay is really bad, and this one would get zero stars from me if I could. After starting work at 4am, our car broke down, and I didn’t reach the hotel until 7:45pm. The receptionist was lovely, bless her, but the rest was disappointing. Google and booking.com said food was available, and there was even a Just Eat sign outside, but there was no food. The bathroom mirror seemed to be set at a child’s height, and the heater was in German, so it was hard to adjust. The room was okay, but my TV switched on whenever the neighbour used theirs.

A nice little bar with decent beer and okay service. I haven’t stayed in the hotel, so I can’t comment on that. The main downside was there being no food, but I’d still pop in for a beer again.

We stayed here to visit family nearby. The staff were pleasant when we checked in, and the location suited us, but the room and bathroom had plenty of visible dirt and cobwebs. There weren’t enough cups and glasses for everyone, and some light fittings were broken. Maintenance is below standard.
