The main drawback is parking. There are only about 12 spaces by the hotel, plus a few accessible bays. The main car park serves the whole estate and is around a 600-metre walk away, so bear that in mind if you have luggage or mobility needs. Parking is free for 24 hours with a hotel stay, though it normally costs £15. Inside, the place is modern and quiet. The road is nearby, so you’ll hear traffic all night with the windows open, but shut windows do a good job of blocking it out. There’s air conditioning in the room. Food is available around the clock to take back to your room, but there’s no room service. We had pizza and a burger, and both were good. Hot breakfast is available too. Pets are allowed, although some room rates charge £25 per pet, the same as for a person. There are plenty of businesses on the estate, including cinemas, McDonald's and bowling. I’d recommend staying if you can get a good room price, even with a pet.

A couple of things to know before booking: there’s no free Wi-Fi, and there’s no parking at the hotel. You can leave your car in a large parking building about 300 metres away, but it’s poorly lit. Hope your windscreen is still in one piece in the morning. Make your own call.

Parking is seriously inadequate, especially if you’re driving a larger vehicle. I had to leave our van at the nearby stadium car park run by RingGo. The fees there are outrageous: it’s £5.40 for the day until midnight, then at 12:01am I’d have to pay RingGo another £5.40 to cover the van until we checked out in the morning.

Getting into the city is a real hassle because the hotel is so far from the centre. There’s no mobile signal anywhere inside the building, though it comes back in full as soon as you step outside. The only way to get online is their expensive Wi-Fi, which feels deliberate. There’s no fridge in the room either, which is a pain. It’s clean enough, but those practical issues made the stay frustrating.

Staff were really helpful, and it was a nice, quiet stay. Parking wasn’t a problem for me since you get a free 24-hour spot in a car park a few minutes’ walk away. The breakfast was possibly the worst I’ve ever eaten, and the floors were sticky. I did have it around 10am, to be fair. Apart from that, it was a decent experience.
