Castle Apartment

We felt very well looked after by the friendly, efficient staff. The restaurant serves very good food and wine at reasonable prices, too. This was our second stay at the Castle Hotel in Conwy, and we enjoyed it just as much as the first. Our room was a good size, nicely equipped, warm and very comfortable. Highly recommended.

The real low point was DJ Kev Cee. He seemed completely out of touch with the crowd, playing random tracks through speakers that were far too loud. The dance floor filled up for Abba, then emptied immediately when he switched to a club mix of Moves like Jagger. No one danced to it, but he carried on for another 20 minutes with music nobody was dancing to, even though plenty of people wanted to. We like the hotel and the event, but if Kev is DJ next year, we won’t consider coming back. The staff, on the other hand, were fantastic. Cab, Rach, Toni, Sallie and Danielle were cheerful at check-in and still smiling at breakfast. They must have been tired, but looked after us well and worked together so nicely. Our room, including the bathtub, was very clean. One radiator wasn’t working, and after we told reception, a heater arrived almost straight away. We had a fabulous New Year’s Eve stay. The Castle Hotel management should keep those great staff and find a different DJ.

We’d stay here again. The room was extremely comfortable, though a little too warm. Breakfast came hot and had lots of options, and dinner was very good too. My husband had the steak and I had the veggie ragu, both done really well.

The dog was treated like a guest too, with lots of attention and even a sausage specially cooked for breakfast. Everyone was especially friendly to me, my partner and our dog, and the hotel is genuinely dog friendly. The food was amazing. Over three dinners we tried different starters and mains each night, and enjoyed every choice. There were still other dishes we wanted to try, but ran out of time. We had a fantastic stay and will definitely return. I’d recommend it to everyone.
