YHA Conwy - Hostel

The communal spaces were great, with plenty of seating, though none of it was in fantastic condition. The room itself was fine, but the ensuite needs attention: the shower seals are coming away with black mould spores, and the fixed shower isn't ideal if you're over six feet tall. The toilet roll dispenser is right in your face when you sit down. Outside, many wooden frames are literally crumbling and need repairs. We still loved our visit and I'd definitely return with the kids. They found the mattresses comfy, though as an adult I thought they were the least comfortable part of the room. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful when we arrived. Check-in isn't until 5pm, so we stored our case somewhere beforehand. The food menu was minimal but functional. Wine prices were listed, but prices for other drinks weren't, which I found odd. Breakfast was disappointing, more like food handed to you than a buffet. That avoids waste, but felt expensive for the amount we got, and the coffee machine was out of order. The self-catering kitchen was a good size and well stocked, though it only had one under-counter fridge. We didn't use it much since we came by public transport and had no time to shop after checking in.
