The location was okay and the price was good, but it didn’t feel like great value for money. Downstairs has a lovely pub feel and looks good when you walk in. Upstairs, though, it all seemed dated and in need of a refurb. Our room was basic and needed a proper clean and a spruce up. Breakfast was disappointing. For such a large pub, I thought they could offer cooked food, but it was only a fairly basic continental breakfast. We also wanted tea and coffee, but couldn’t make our own. We waited 5-10 minutes for someone to come to the bar and make it. A few minor changes could make this a very good place.

Had afternoon tea, with lots of choice, all served fresh. The cakes were great, and everything was clearly home cooked and presented beautifully. Great value too at £16.25pp.

The Raven Hall worked really well for our research event. We booked a room and were very happy with the space and the staff's support. Everyone was friendly, and there was tea and coffee available. Plenty of parking too, though you can walk to the station if needed. Highly recommend.

We'd booked and paid in advance for a family Christmas meal, but three dishes were missing. They first said we hadn't ordered them, then found the booking and brought the meals out after we'd finished. The food wasn't great either. I'd come back for a drink, but not for a meal.

After a shocking stay at the Hampton by Hilton down the road, I ended up here and had a great experience. I'd recommend this place.
