We were four people walking the West Highland Way, and this was a perfect place to rest, with easy transport to and from Fort William. It's a lovely, cozy bunkhouse with beautiful views. Bunkhouses have become much more expensive, but this one still seemed fairly priced. The host was friendly and helpful, and we had everything we needed to cook, clean, dry off and warm up. I'd recommend it to others.
The kitchen was fully equipped, so we cooked there and ate outside at the picnic table. The hosts were welcoming and pretty funny. It's ideally placed next to the marina and train stop. I give this hostel 10/10!
The beds were very comfortable, and we slept well. The bunkhouse had a great rustic feel, and the kitchen was stocked with more than the basics: all sorts of pots and pans, measuring jugs, whisks and more. It overlooks the loch and is well placed for climbing Ben Nevis, with just a seven-minute drive to the starting point.
The setting is what makes this bunkhouse special. The Jacobite Steam Train passes every few hours, the wreck of the Old Boat of Caol is nearby and worth a couple of Instagram photos, and Neptune's Staircase is an easy walk away. The surrounding area is beautiful, and a short drive gets you to shops and other facilities, Fort William, Nevis and a distillery. Inside, it's a basic but comfortable place with good heating, comfortable beds, a strong shower and a well-equipped kitchen. It sleeps four easily, has free dedicated parking, and was easy to find and enter using the key-lock box. We'll be back!
We had a great four-day family stay with our toddler. Tina, the manager and owner, was nice and explained everything promptly. The apartment was cleaner than some hotel rooms I've stayed in, and had enough equipment for somewhere we mainly used to sleep and eat, with so much to explore nearby.
