Britannia Coventry Hill Hotel

We slept well, thanks to comfortable beds, clean rooms, and recently refurbished bathrooms. Our bedroom had both a double and a single bed, so £62 for three people is good value. Just remember your chargers, as there are no USB ports. The hotel didn’t look as white in person and felt a bit tired in the shared areas. It was very quiet. Breakfast looked as though it came in boxes, though I could be wrong, so we ate elsewhere.

The bed was comfortable, though I could’ve used another pillow. The promised “pants press” wasn’t in our room. Mobile reception was poor, and there was no WiFi as an alternative. That’s not the worst thing in the world, but the place could be better in some ways. It does feel dated, and some fixtures on the walls were loose. The main table wobbled badly when anything was put on it.

The room was clean, spacious, and cheap, so it would work if all you need is somewhere to sleep before heading out. I wouldn’t bother with anything else if I stayed again. The decor looks like it hasn’t changed since the 90s. Breakfast was the main letdown: for the price charged, the choice was very limited, and it was poorly presented and messy. The staff weren’t especially unfriendly, but they didn’t seem interested and weren’t welcoming.

For £34 a night, we had a clean room and couldn’t complain. It was good value, even if a little basic. The outside and public areas didn’t make much of an impression. I slept well, though the mattress was quite hard, so it might not suit everyone.
