Britannia Hotel Coventry

The room had what we needed, and the hotel is well placed for visiting the centre. Dinner was nice, especially the turkey. Pascal and praninthi were fabulous, very friendly during the meal. Kyle went above and beyond by surprising one of our friends with cake and candles for their birthday. Thank you!

We were able to bring outside food up to the room, which was convenient. The room was clean, and the staff were friendly, but our stay was only one night and I wouldn’t want to make it longer. We were right by the lifts and could hear them moving all night. Also, the bathroom cold water tap didn’t work during our stay.

I’ve stayed here plenty of times since moving away from Coventry, usually for meetings and catch-ups. I’ve had some lovely moments on the balconies, but you never quite know what you’ll get. A cheaper room once put me right beside the lifts, with noise all night. On another visit I paid more and got a spacious, clean room, though the layout was odd and the stay wasn’t the best. Most recently I asked for a cheaper room away from the lifts. They took that literally and put me miles away, inconveniently so. Check-in was quick, which helped because I had a lot to do, but room 310 smelled damp within minutes. It was disgusting, unacceptable, and felt unhealthy. That room needs a proper clean and the windows opened before anyone stays there. I’ve got another stopover on Monday and can’t decide whether to pay the premium for a clean room or go somewhere else. Any advice?

The room had an awesome view, and everything is still functional. The staff’s diligence is top-notch too. A couple of the younger people at reception are still learning, but the night security guard is always alert and keeps watch.
