Highcroft Guest House

A week after I phoned to reserve a room for Friday through Saturday, they called me on Thursday to ask when I’d arrive for check-in. I said there must have been a mistake because I’d booked Friday, but they told me Friday was fully booked. I said I wouldn’t be coming to check in and began doubting whether I’d made the reservation properly. I asked if I could get a partial refund, or at least the cost of the three breakfasts I’d paid for. I followed up by email too, but still haven’t had a reply.

The owners were nice, and the hotel and rooms were really clean. We only stayed overnight while going to a gig, as somewhere to sleep for a few hours before heading back to Wigan. We worried the shared bathroom might be a problem, but it was actually really nice. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone needing somewhere for a few nights.

The cooked breakfast in the morning was excellent, and the woman running Highcroft guesthouse was so sweet and made me feel welcome. My room was clean and the bed comfortable. I really enjoyed staying there. It was reasonably priced for the quality, and I’d highly recommend Highcroft.

The location is great, about 10min from the city center, and both the room and bathroom were good. It’s a little old and I think the price could come down a bit. The staff really let it down, though. If they’d shown even a little courtesy, I’d have given it 5stars.
