Breakfast was excellent, with plenty to choose from and more than enough to eat. The staff were really friendly and helpful, and staying there was a joy. The rooms were very clean, with a comfortable bed and a good sized ensuite. The decor is dated and could use a refresh, though a bit of refurb is to be expected in a place getting on for 500 years old. Highly recommended.

The staff are brilliant, friendly and helpful, and breakfast is terrific. It’s fantastic value for money, too. Two young people on reception were particularly helpful, as was the gentleman who oversaw breakfast. The hotel is getting on a little bit, but it has a certain charm. I’m always impressed and will be back.

Since moving to Cranbrook, we’ve made the George our local. They recently started a quiz that’s been great for the community. Greg, the quiz master, brings plenty of enthusiasm and fun, makes sure everyone gets involved and is very attentive. He also serves us fairly regularly and is a very good host.

The welcome was friendly as soon as we arrived, and the place was clean with a lovely ambience. We had an excellent shared starter, and my husband’s steak pie was exceptional. The food overall was very good. My only personal comment is that the eggs seemed griddled rather than fried, leaving a brown skirt that was too overdone for me. That didn’t reflect the food in general. I’d highly recommend it.

A great dinner and breakfast, with very friendly and helpful staff. We were welcomed warmly and had a big, clean, comfortable room at the George. It was a perfect start to our holiday, and we hope to come back soon.
