We had a great weekend at the Royal Oak, including their Sunday sharing roast. The lamb was some of the best we’ve had, with huge Yorkshire puddings, delicious vegetables and roast potatoes. Staff were warm and friendly, and gave our dogs lots of attention. They even let us stay in the room past checkout and sit by the fire with coffee on Sunday while we waited for our noon booking. The room was spacious, with a very comfortable bed, a clean bathroom and a lovely large bath. It was spotless and came with a coffee machine, kettle, tea and coffee, plus a small fridge stocked with milk, fresh orange juice and water. They’re very dog friendly in both the pub and rooms. I’d definitely recommend staying and having the roast.

The drive was worth it. The beef rib was incredibly tender, and there was loads of food for the two of us. We enjoyed the beer, too, and the staff were friendly and helpful. A really enjoyable Sunday roast and experience, highly recommend The Royal Oak.

For the five of us, they brought out a roasting tin of beef and another of lamb, each surrounded by vegetables and homemade Yorkshire puddings. We all loved the Sunday roast. It was well worth the price, and the way it was served was a nice change.

A gorgeous room, with everything we needed for the stay. It was really clean, and the bed and furnishings were good quality. The little breakfast hamper was lovely, and the bath and bathroom made for a relaxing time.

I work as a chef at The Ivy, Tunbridge Wells, so I know how food is prepared, cooked and processed. When I raised an issue with our chicken burger, manager Carl, who was on shift, slyly brushed me off with “that’s just how it comes.” We cut the chicken in half to check it more closely and found the fillet completely raw. Once I persisted and Carl actually looked at the food, he was horrified and rushed straight to the kitchen. Great customer care and food quality control, Carl. 😬
