I never write reviews, but this one’s personal. Wendy at reception had the worst attitude and personality I’ve come across. You’re the face of the company and the person welcoming guests, but meeting her felt far from welcoming. Honestly, she was so rude. If you don’t enjoy your job, don’t work there. I feel sorry for her coworkers.

Reception staff were welcoming and helpful. The hotel was very clean and quiet, and breakfast was great, with gluten-free options too. The edge of town location is handy for travel.

I slept poorly because of the heating noises. The thermostat gave a fairly loud beep every time the heater started, and the heater itself made noticeable expansion and contraction sounds. I know that’s normal for heating systems, but it was still distracting. Putting something behind the heater against the wall cut down the squeaking quite a bit. The room was clean enough, though not spotless. The service and location were good, and aside from the heating noise the stay was comfortable. A bit of attention to the heating system could make this a 5-star experience.

The reception staff were very friendly when we arrived and left, and gave us good suggestions for places to see and things to do. The hotel was very nice, with a spacious, spotless and comfortable room. Extra tea and coffee is always available. I recommend staying here.

The building feels dated, but my room was clean and comfortable. The Beefeater next door is a great bonus, with reliable pub grub and friendly service.
