Travelodge Crewe

There was at least free parking, and the WiFi wasn't too expensive. Beyond that, the stay was awful. The room smelled disgusting, with vomit in the sink, and I could clearly hear people in the other rooms. The bathroom door had no lock, so there was no privacy. The window wouldn't close, and there was black mould along its edge. Lights blew out when I switched them off and back on, while the radiators hissed for hours. Strange vibrating noises went on through the night. Staff were just okay, nothing special.

The staff were really friendly, even though I got to my room around 9 at night. The room itself was just okay: a desk, TV and bed, with a chair and a lot of empty space. The bed was uncomfortable, and lying on it hurt my back. I kept tossing and turning.

Matt and the customer service team were fantastic and keen to sort things out. The room, though, felt old and dated, with a draught that made it cold and a radiator that wasn't up to the job. The tap leaked, there weren't enough sockets, and there were no glasses or electric shaver points. There were no curtains either, despite a footpath running right outside the room.

The room was basic, but had what we needed and was very clean, with tea and coffee provided. We stopped here on the way south. The staff member who greeted us was friendly and helpful. A good place to stay, and I'd definitely recommend it.
