East Gatehouse Lodge

We came looking for rolling hills, cows, peace, moss and streams, and opening the door here brought us all of that. The Mill House was spotlessly clean, with bright windows looking out to the trees. Alexandra was a wonderful host and answered our questions. Loch Earn and Loch Tay make beautiful day trips, with plenty of hikes and restaurants nearby, and there's a whiskey distillery just a few minutes away. We recommend staying here and hope to return someday.

We spent three nights in Keppoch Cottage, one of the self-catering cottages available on the Monzie Estate in Monzie near Crieff. It was clean, charming and cosy, full of character, and just what I needed as a disabled guest. The beds were comfy, there was a walk-in shower, parking right outside and a spot to sit outdoors. Homemade brownies were left as a lovely gift. Alexandra and her team made us feel very welcome. We could drive down to the estate's Castle to take photos, and our stay included a castle tour. A perfect getaway, not too far from Perth.

We had the whole house to ourselves for a family break and self-catered. It had everything we needed, though the waste bins were a bit confusing. Such a shame that nearly every window looked onto the hydro electric plant building, with only one staircase window offering a beautiful view. The walk to the whisky distillery was great, but a taxi back for a 10-minute drive was expensive.

The river sounds mixed with birdsong made this one of the most relaxing places we've stayed. Alexandra, the owner, has done an amazing job renovating the Mill House. She was hospitable and kind, and made us feel so welcome. Since it was our anniversary, she picked some wild flowers for us and made delicious homemade brownies for a very small cost. My wife loved it. Those little things count. The bed was so comfortable we nearly tried to take it home in the car. Breakfast was a lovely change from the usual, with freshly baked breads and pastries. We'll be back to this hidden gem.
