Comrie is a lovely village, with cafes, groceries and a restaurant. You’ll probably want to drive, as it’s a 40 minute walk. We stayed during the Hogmanay celebrations, though the museum and cafe were closed for the season. The accommodation was spacious, comfortable and well equipped. There’s a self check-in system, with phone help if needed. It was extremely cold while we were there, and the temporary heating just about managed. A memorable stay.

The cafe on site does great home baking and a good breakfast. I’d stay again because there’s plenty of space and parking, and the self-catering huts were spacious and clean. The place was quiet during our November visit, with the museum closed, though it’s handy for local attractions. The sofa bed and the mattresses in the main bedroom were very uncomfortable and could do with an upgrade. The shower kept switching between very hot and very cold instead of holding a steady temperature. The central heating wasn’t working, as far as we could tell, and nobody let us know, but two portable heaters eventually warmed the hut.

The history here is fascinating, and the setting is beautiful. Well worth a visit. Café 21 is a must-stop too, with friendly people, a warm welcome and amazing food. Five stars.

We’ve just returned from three nights at Cultybraggan, and it was a great experience. The Nissan Huts were cosy and had everything we needed. Camp 21 cafe is there, and there are lovely walks as well. I imagine it must be great in summer. Definitely worth visiting or staying over.

I was pleased to see the old assault course turned into a community orchard, and glad the site was handed over to the people of Comrie instead of being sold and demolished. We stopped by on a quiet Saturday while camping in the area. It felt nostalgic, as I used to come here in the late nineties when it belonged to the MoD. I also enjoyed learning more about its time as a PoW camp and hearing some of the stories.
