Abigail made us feel at home from the start, and was especially kind while we were celebrating my mother's birthday. The meal at The Bath Arms Shearwater was brilliant: a great menu, delicious food cooked just right, and everything presented beautifully. We’ll be back.

That Basque cheesecake was so good that even the biggest eater at our table went ahead and had dessert after considering leaving a potato. The roast itself was fantastic too. The vegetables suited both the al-dente fans and those who like them softer, and the porchetta seasoning brought out the meat without overpowering it. I've only had a better roast at home.

The carrots, Yorkshire pudding, gravy and roast potatoes were divine, and my husband loved the roast beef. We also really enjoyed the frickles, especially the light tempura, which made a lovely starter and was a fun thing to find on a Sunday menu. The pub has a lovely rustic feel, and the staff were welcoming from the outset. They answered our questions about vegan options, which weren't marked on the menu, and quickly brought our greyhound water and a biscuit. It's very dog friendly. A couple of things let the roast down for me. The cauliflower cheese seemed underdone, and I missed the browned, crispy bits. The sauce was thin and could have been richer. The King Oyster mushroom in the Wellington was left as one big piece, so it slipped out of the pastry when cut. I think smaller pieces in a sauce would work better. It was an enjoyable lunch, but at this price I expected a little more. I'd come back and see if it earns that extra star.

I'm not from the area, but the food and welcome here were unbelievable for the price. My family and I stopped for lunch while they were incredibly busy, and they still managed to deliver. I can't wait to come back.

Having this pub right here in Crockerton makes us feel very lucky. The food is consistently excellent, and the friendly service always makes us feel at home. It's also great for families: there's plenty of garden space, and the big sandpit keeps the little ones busy. A real local gem, highly recommended.
