Jack’s advice on surf spots, conditions and the forecast was spot-on, and the board and wetsuit I hired were great gear and good value. Hiring them for 24 hours was a really smooth process. I had a fantastic experience with Walking on the Wave, and Jack was friendly, welcoming and efficient. One tip: if the shop looks closed, give Jack a call using the number online. He’ll be there in less than five minutes. You’d miss out by passing up the chance to rent from such a great local surf center.

We’ve used WoW for several years and have had steady, consistent service, with reasonably priced gear that’s always decent quality. The US lady ? served us and gave great advice, and kindly got our group settled around our different requirements. She also advised us on booking and return times, helping us get the most use out of the wetsuits and boards during our holiday. That felt like more than we could have expected elsewhere. The premises are on Unison site.

Mike and Sarah have a great surf school at Saunton Sands. It’s a great place for a surf camp, just over the dunes from Croyde beach.

The shop is right at Croyde Bay Resort, where my daughter and I were staying. It was Easter, and neither of us was keen on going into the sea. When we decided to hire some kit, I was disappointed to see the shop was closed, but someone arrived within minutes after we called the number. He was great, helped us get what we needed and checked the sizes. Returning everything was really easy too. This made my daughter’s week. That’s my experience of having the shop there and its great staff.
