The Wheatsheaf Inn

The bar staff are excellent and the service is always great. I do hope the food improves to match them, and I'll give it a few months before trying again. I popped in for dinner after several months away and left very disappointed. The menu has shrunk a lot, which seems likely to be a cost-cutting move, and the ribs are gone. A table sign said pizza was available Thursday to Saturday, but I was told it was only Friday and Saturday. The chips were cheap, frozen, mass-catering style, like something from a low-budget van. My biggest pet hate is lazy chef work: there were five bones at one end of the fish in my fish and chips. At £19 for fish, chips and peas, they should take the bones out. This is nowhere near the food quality I've enjoyed from this place over many years.

The staff were polite and really helpful, and the food was great. I stayed at the Wheatsheaf for a couple of nights recently and loved it. The accommodation was clean and comfortable. I'd definitely return.

The room was clean and stocked very well, and the housekeeper was incredibly welcoming and offered lots of services. I had a great stay. The ladies in the pub were kind, cheerful and very helpful, and all the staff were amazing.

We had a lovely lunch in the little room at the back, which gave our group of 8 a good spot to catch up. The food was delicious, came out in good time and was great value. Staff were attentive without being over the top. There's plenty of parking, and we'll be going back.
