Since Covid, it’s been housing people I call “illegals,” along with the midland hotel. Meanwhile, homeless people here are out on cold streets while those staying there get free meals and benefits, according to what I believe.

Very suspicious. A security guard says it’s closed, but there are people inside. It feels like something improper might be going on there.

The Victorian Midland Railway grandeur is paired with modern comforts here. The bathroom was nicely done and the bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was well prepared, with nicely cooked meats as well as cereals. One small thing: the radiator was left on full blast before I came into the room, so it was really hot and seemed like a waste of energy and money.

The room was comfortable and had what we needed, though it was basic. It’s right by the station, which means a decent walk into the city centre, and there’s a busy road nearby. The windows did a pretty good job keeping the noise down. Parking cost £8, which felt a bit much, but with the room at £36 it still worked out as good value. We didn’t try breakfast.

The food looked lovely and tasted great, and the staff were so polite and helpful. We were a group of ten having afternoon tea, with quite a range of dietary needs including vegan options. They handled all of it really well and made for a lovely afternoon. Thank you! :)
