Don’t book this place if you’re doing the nord500. The check-in times are stupid, and the owner is useless about refunds, even though he said on the phone that he would give one. Reply to owner: Thanks for the condescending lesson in policy, Cromarty View Management. We understand the check-in times are clearly listed and the NC500 can be unpredictable, with sheep, weather and all the rest. When we realised after booking that our day would run past your 4-8pm window, we called to sort out a refund. You told us to contact Booking.com to get it. We took that as you agreeing it could be done, and we should go through them. No refund came through. Now you’re lecturing us about contractual agreements and how flexible you are when guests communicate properly. We did contact you directly and were sent to a dead end. If you weren’t going to arrange it, why make it sound that way on the phone? It feels like you promised flexibility, then hid behind the platform and policies when it suited you. We did choose the non-refundable rate. But acting helpful about a refund on the phone and then insisting publicly that rules are rules feels dishonest. This place is a trap for anyone whose NC500 day doesn’t go perfectly to plan, and most days don’t. Steer clear if you want any understanding or follow-through. There are plenty of other hosts who don’t play these games.

The host was so welcoming and friendly. We were in town for a nearby event, and he even offered to arrange a pickup if we had trouble getting transport back to the guest house. Our rooms were perfect, clean, warm and nicely decorated. It’s a short walk into town, with a bus stop right outside. Can’t recommend this place highly enough. Many thanks from Lynn, Jean and Davie.

A very disappointing experience with this host. My friend’s flight was due to land at 9:30 PM, but the host said check-in closed at 9 PM, with no prior warning or flexibility. I live nearby and offered to pick up the keys myself to help with check-in, but the host refused and replied in an aggressive, unprofessional way. It became clear there wasn’t actually a room available. Even after Booking.com intervened, the host kept the payment. The behaviour felt unacceptable and deeply untrustworthy. I strongly advise against booking here.

Scott and Jason made us feel so welcome and kept making sure we had what we needed. They created a lovely atmosphere, and their friendliness made the long drive worthwhile. The vegetarian hot breakfast was a nice extra, with lots of options that many big hotel chains don’t go out of their way to offer. We’ll recommend this place to family and friends, and hope to come back ourselves.
