Newhall Mains

Newhall Mains was a perfect base for exploring the Highlands scenery, and we can’t wait to come back. The bedrooms and hotel spaces, including the library, were beautiful, and the setting was stunning. The team made the stay even more enjoyable. Food and wine choices were wonderful, with genuinely fantastic meals. A special mention to Silva, whose massage service was just right after 3 days of lots of walking. Thank you again!

The grounds are absolutely stunning, and the staff were very friendly. The bread was delicious, and the guy serving was a nice person doing his best while on his own, taking orders, serving and making drinks. Still, the food didn’t match the setting. The £42 beef main course was a bit of a stitch-up: four thin slices, slightly underdone, with a lovely celeriac cream, but an inedible, cloying, salty black garlic splodge that overpowered everything, and no starch at all. Just half a caramelised shallot, which was nice. The creme caramel needed to be taken further, as the caramel was a bit pale. They should also ask how the customer wants their beef cooked when taking the order. Mine was just about OK for me, but nearer rare than medium rare, which made it a little chewy. My flat white was cold too. To be fair, the guy was managing it all alone and doing the best he could. Just meh. Other than that, it was £180 well spent 🙄

We spent Christmas here last year, and the stay was truly unforgettable. The service was impeccable, the facilities top notch, and the food exceptional. We felt so well looked after. I can’t recommend this wonderful hotel enough, and we already can’t wait to return.

The staff are what make Newhall Mains feel so special. They go out of their way to cater to your every need. The rooms, cottages, lounge and restaurant are faultlessly designed, and the beds are the best I’ve ever slept in. It’s a special place in the beautiful Highlands. Highly recommend.
