The National Hotel

I was doing the john o'Groats to lands End cycle ride and wild camping, but needed a room to freshen up and charge my phone and power banks. I called to ask about availability, and luckily the owner had a room. They held it for me while I was about 10 miles away and even charged a bit less. I was allowed to leave my bike inside the hotel in a locked room too. The hotel was lovely and clean, and wow, the beds were so comfortable. It's in a nice little town, with plenty of good shops within 10 yards. Definitely recommend it.

Good value for money in a well located, comfortable budget hotel. The housekeepers do a fantastic job, and the whole place looks spotlessly clean. Friendly too. I'd highly recommend it.

For me, value for money was what mattered, and this hotel delivered. I went out of season and paid just £39 for a single room. It was clean and spacious for one person, with a large en-suite, shower cubicle, desk, chair, wardrobe, kettle and tea making facilities. There's free onside parking, and it's right in the middle of town. The place looks grand and imposing, and it's historic, so it was probably once the place to stay in Dingwall. It may have seen its haday, though, and it isn't The Ritz. Some people love the hotel and others clearly hate it. I suppose it comes down to what you expect for your money and the time of year you visit. You pay your money and take your choice.

It's an old hotel, but the prices are cheap and the beds are clean. The staff are very friendly. There isn't a lift, though, so getting luggage up to the higher floors is a bit difficult.
