Staying in a castle made our NC500 trip feel extra memorable. It was the only hotel we stayed in on the trip, and it met our expectations. The location worked well for our route, and breakfast was really nice. We loved the thoughtful decor details that added to the castle's character and atmosphere. It felt like a special place to stay. We'd definitely recommend it to anyone after something a bit different while travelling the NC500.

The chef spotted us in the hallway and went out of his way to show us around the castle, which we really appreciated. The food was fantastic, and the staff were friendly from the moment we arrived. Our gorgeous room was very clean and well equipped. A beautiful castle hotel, we'd highly recommend it and will definitely come back.

Paul was helpful and knew a lot about the castle's history, which was refreshing. We had a spacious, clean room with a four-poster bed, a good bathroom and a balcony you could walk out onto. The hotel is dog-friendly and accommodating, with a nice bar, friendly staff, good pub food and an option for fine dining. A lovely stopover, and we'd stay again if we're in the area.

The Christmas package gave us a fantastic, cozy stay in a piece of history. Staff welcomed us warmly and made us feel at home right away. The food was fabulous, with a delicious three-course meal at every sitting, and we enjoyed relaxing with a drink in the cozy bar. Our bedroom was bigger than expected and stayed really warm. This 12th-century castle has been updated well, with modern essentials like brand-new bathrooms and USB plugs alongside its historic feel. It's a historic castle rather than a modern luxury hotel, but it was worth the price and had everything we needed. Highly recommended!

For a castle stay, it was decent value since most other castles are prohibitively expensive. The room itself felt stuffy, with a gigantic closet, and the key came on an awkwardly huge wooden fob that was really annoying. With thin walls, we heard lots of hallway noise, especially that wooden key clanging against doors as people tried to unlock them. The hot breakfast was good, though the pastries were stale and cheap. There are loads of stairs and the hallways can feel like a labyrinth, with a weird number of doors connecting them. It was farther from Inverness than I expected when planning.
