The Bull

The Bull was a memorable stop on our South Downs Way walk. It wasn’t cheap, but we’d love to return. Our room was gorgeous, spacious, comfortable, and had a really cool feel. Harvey welcomed us and saved us a good table for dinner. The pub was busy and lively without being too noisy, just the sort of atmosphere you want in a pub. We both chose the one pot chicken in mustard sauce, which was delicious. I followed mine with chocolate brownie and ice-cream. The staff were helpful and attentive without hovering. At breakfast, Philomena was so friendly that she even lent us her newspaper to browse while we waited for our food. There were plenty of tasty choices.

The rooms were stunning, and the mini bar was really well stocked. The whole place is stylish, with that classic British pub feel but a cool edge too. It was super clean, the staff were friendly and helpful, and both the food and breakfast were excellent.

The staff handled our group so patiently, first with eight of us at dinner and then six the next evening. Eliza was especially helpful, and the woman serving breakfast did everything she could to make us feel welcome. Sorry, I didn’t get her name. We had an excellent two-night stay, with delicious breakfasts and dinner both evenings. There was plenty of choice, and every meal was tasty and beautifully presented. Thanks to everyone for making our first visit to Ditchling such an enjoyable, memorable one.

A good spot for a getaway, with lovely, spacious rooms and a well-stocked mini bar. It’s easy to reach from London, too. There’s a busy road outside, but it didn’t bother us and we slept just fine.
