We stopped at this lovely pub at the end of a walk and found the staff very welcoming. There are good beers, and it’s very dog friendly, with a nice range of bespoke dog treats. We didn’t eat this time, though the food looked exquisite when it arrived at nearby tables.

The George III has been a special place for me for a long time. I come for a weekend away with my wife or for good food and a decent pint after climbing the local hills and mountains. The food is always great, and the service is impeccable.

The location is incredible, the staff are friendly and it’s dog friendly too. But the food was horrendous. The prawns were tiny and warm, covered in some kind of chorizo mush. The apple crumble had no crumble either, just apple and cinnamon under what looked like porridge oats. It was colder than the prawns, though not as dangerous. The staff really were amazing, and the location is hard to beat.

A very dog friendly place, with excellent location, service, quality and value for money. We went for lunch and will definitely be back.

My husband, son and I had Sunday lunch in the restaurant yesterday. The food was lovely, well cooked and served in generous portions, and the staff were attentive. My one niggle was the sides: £5.95 for two pigs in blankets and the same for a small bowl of cauliflower cheese. They could charge less or serve a bigger portion. Aside from that, it was a very good lunch.
