The Reindeer has been on our list of local places to try since we moved here in October 2024, and lots of locals recommended it. I think the cold beef may have been down to how busy they were. The pub is lovely, the staff were friendly and accommodating, and the grab bags of chocolate buttons after the meal were a nice Mother's Day touch. We weren't charged for the beef after sending it back, and I got a free glass of Merlot. We went for an early Mother's Day dinner. We didn't mind waiting half an hour for our booked table while it was so busy, but another 45 minutes for the food left us starving. They did bring our daughter's meal out sooner, which we appreciated. My vegetarian roast was delicious, with a nice tartlet, lovely vegetables and good roast potatoes. My husband's beef arrived freezing cold, though, and after sending it back he didn't want to wait any longer or order something else. The kids' fish and chips were okay, but not especially child-friendly for my six-year-old daughter. The skin-on chips were very chunky, more like roast potatoes, the fish skin was left on, and the baked beans had herbs on them, or maybe spinach, I couldn't quite tell. We asked to swap the mushy peas for beans, but for some reason the beans portion they brought was half the size of the peas portion.

Pub and food review only. There's plenty of parking, and the modern-looking place has a country pub feel as you drive from Doncaster. Inside it's clean and homely, with reindeer pictures, busts and ornaments. The toilets were clean too. There are two or three hand-pulled beers, including Timothy Taylor and Black Sheep, with another that rotates. The manager made me feel welcome, and the staff were polite and efficient. It was busy, but I didn't feel rushed. I arrived with plenty of time to have a drink and read the menus. It was Fish Friday, so I tried the £10 fish deal with curry sauce and extra tartar sauce. What a bargain! A good-sized portion, served hot, with A+ quality fish. Recommended 100%. I'll be back for pie night on Thursday and will write another review.

The extra pigs in blankets we ordered were the best I've ever tasted. The Sunday lunch was lovely too, turkey and stuffing with a Yorkshire pudding, mash, roast potatoes and a bowl of cauliflower, broccoli and carrots on the side. Plenty of gravy with it all. Highly recommend!

First Sunday lunch here and I wasn't disappointed. The food was really nice, and the portions were a decent size. I'll definitely be back.

The stew special was wonderful, though it needed more sauce or gravy to go with the mashed potatoes. My son had the pie, which was huge and full of flavour. Excellent service from the polite, attentive young waitress. Lovely place, and I'll come back next time I'm in the area, just after Christmas.
