We couldn't get into the property when we arrived around 3:40 pm, although check-in was supposed to start at 3. Nobody answered the door despite repeated knocks and rings. The booking number got us through to someone who said a person should be there, but they weren't. After ten minutes and two calls, we were finally let in remotely. There were several issues inside. The shower only sometimes got warm enough to use, and on our last day we woke at 5:30 am to a family in the shared bathroom calling to each other that there was no hot water. The TV had just two channels. Of the five bathroom bulbs, only two worked; only two of the three room lamps worked, and none of the walk-in wardrobe lights did. One of the two windows opened, but couldn't be held open. The carpet at the top of the first stair flight was folded over instead of cut to size, making it easy to trip over and potentially a serious safety hazard. A nail stuck out of a window frame. There were also several holes in the wall, a wobbly bedside table, and the room was poorly decorated, with wallpaper coming away in several places.

I walked in, then straight back out. The bed was stained, the place was dirty, and the fixtures and fittings were awful. One star is too generous. Look elsewhere if you want any comfort.

The crockery was dirty, and the place smelled strongly of cigarette smoke. Poor value for money.

Nothing fancy, but it did the job and was quieter than I expected.
