Holiday Inn Express Droitwich Spa by IHG

I'm sorry to say I was very glad to leave after such an awful stay. Parking was a nightmare. Guests should be told it's a shared car park and that a space isn't guaranteed, especially if they need one of the two disabled spaces. I also wasn't actually given an accessible room. It was the smallest room I've stayed in, here or abroad. The bathroom layout made no sense for someone with a disability: the toilet was behind the door in an alcove beside the shower, with the toilet roll holder behind you. There was a big step into the shower, and the sink touched it because the room was so small. The metal beds were noisy and squeaky. I love dogs and don't mind barking, but this was constant. Then noisy guests were shouting at 3:37am that they needed the key card. We left before breakfast because my daughter just wanted to go. I was told I'd get 5,000 points toward another stay to 'make up for it', even though an average stay costs 2,000-6,000 points. Never again. Avoid if you don't like chaos and poor parking.

The room was very clean and nicely presented, and the bed was exceptionally comfortable. It was quiet too, with no noise from neighboring rooms, and we both enjoyed the breakfast options. Those were the good parts of our first stay with this hotel and company. There were several letdowns. Check-in took longer than expected because the receptionist was slow to acknowledge us and finish the process. I'd mentioned our anniversary in the booking, but nobody acknowledged it. The website said hot chocolate sachets were available, but reception told me they didn't provide any. The bottom of the shower was visibly dirty and drained very slowly. The Dove body wash and shampoo left both my partner and me with dry, itchy skin and scalps. In the restaurant, several tables had dirty dishes on them, and staff were slow to clear up. We sat beside plates that stayed there for our entire meal, and drink refills took a while too. At checkout, nobody was at reception, despite being told it was staffed around the clock, so I couldn't raise these issues before leaving. For the price of one night, we left disappointed and don't plan to return.

Our basketball team was here for our cup final, and the staff were lovely. They set up a scout room for us, made check-in easy and were helpful at breakfast. The rooms were excellent for such a good price, too. Great staff!

Breakfast had a good range, though at times it was hard to serve myself while managing my mobility aid. The room was clean and comfortable, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Easy to find and park, and handy for travelling onward the next day. I'd stay again.
