1 Loch Ness Hostel

The mold, including black mold, covered our room and made me feel it was a health hazard. We ate the non-refundable booking.com cost and are looking for somewhere safer for the next few nights. There were no bed bugs, but I’d definitely avoid this place if you have respiratory issues. It’s a shame, because there are lots of amenities and you can see someone tried to make it cute. Hostels don’t have to be fancy, but I do expect to be able to breathe without black mold around. If they cleaned the place up, it could be really cute.

The room was fairly clean, and for the price the stay wasn’t bad, but I probably wouldn’t return. Check-in instructions weren’t very clear. Free WiFi was listed, but I wasn’t given access details or shown how to use it, so I had to use my own data.

We didn’t meet any staff, which suited our schedule, though it could feel impersonal. Check-in was contactless, with the keys in a box outside our room and the code sent before arrival. The advertised WiFi was available, but we had trouble connecting during our stay. Our family group of four adults and one child had a family room with an en-suite. It had two bunk beds and a single bed, so we all fit comfortably, and having our own bathroom was convenient. The car park behind the hostel made unloading and parking easy, and we appreciated that it felt accessible and safe, especially with luggage and kids. The spacious, well-kept kitchen, dining room and lounge made it easy to cook and spend time together. The kitchen had all the essentials. We also noticed the little huts at the back of the property. We didn’t stay in one, but they looked cozy and could be a fun option for another visit or for other travelers. We’d still recommend 1 Lochness Hostel to families and groups looking for a comfortable, budget-friendly base near Loch Ness.

TURIST TRAP ALL DAY. The room was filthy, smelled horrible as soon as I walked in, and had mold everywhere. It felt completely unsafe and unlivable. There was no customer service at all, and nobody seemed to care or even acknowledge the problems. The worst hotel experience I’ve ever had. This disece is 0 star, not even one. I would never recommend Lockness Hotel. TURIST TRAP.
