Premier Inn Dumbarton/Loch Lomond

The damp smell in the room has affected my sleep during this two-night stay. Thankfully, tonight is my last one, and I can’t wait to check out and be back in my own bed tomorrow. The window won’t open, and the bathroom fan doesn’t work either. The cleaner I met this morning was super helpful and did her best to tackle the smell while I was out during the day. Still, it’s been a poor experience, and I definitely wouldn’t recommend booking here.

I appreciated the clean room and helpful, friendly staff, and the price was affordable. But traffic noise came through the poorly insulated window all night, making sleep difficult, and cold air came through a gap around it even with the heating on. Parking is limited, so arrive early. There’s no breakfast. It does the job if you’re on a tight budget and just need basic shelter, but the noise and cold make a comfortable night’s sleep unlikely. Bring earplugs and ask for extra blankets.

The restaurant service was good, and we enjoyed both supper and breakfast. Staff were friendly and very helpful. We came by bus, which involved quite a long walk from the stop, but we’ll stay again.

Breakfast was good, and on the second day the cooked dishes were made to order, which worked out better since everything was hot. The staff were welcoming and friendly. It was quieter than most Premier Inns seem to be, though the location is a bit out of town and suits motorists better. There’s a Starbucks and a Costa across the road, plus a small supermarket at the filling station. Pretty good hotel. I’d definitely stay again.
