The city centre was awkward to get back to, with a 20-minute walk along a main road to the bus stop. Our room faced a main road, and it was warm enough that we had to sleep with the sound of cars rushing past all night. The hallways and room smelled funky, and there was hair at the foot of the bed under the duvet. I found a pubic hair in the sink. Some carpet patches looked wet, though I didn't touch them, and there were different-coloured stains near the walls that looked like bleach, but maybe weren't. Check-in was two hours after the time we'd been told we could arrive, and they had only just started cleaning the room before we got there. The front desk was empty, and we waited about five minutes for someone to appear with our key. We also slept with our shirts tucked into our trousers and trousers tucked into our socks because we'd seen a review saying someone woke up with bites. Make of that what you will. Don't stay here!

The rooms are worn down, though still clean. If you want to sleep with a downstairs window open, its security needs attention. It's a two-star hotel for a reason, and seems to have no interest in changing.

The room was disgusting, with a urinal-like smell, blood on the pillows and black mould everywhere. The showerhead looked like it could give you all sorts of diseases. Keep clear!

For a tired traveller, the rooms are roomy and comfortable, even if they're fairly basic and a bit dated. The staff were friendly, helpful and very accommodating when some last-minute issues came up. It's a handy, well-priced budget hotel right by the main road through Dundee, and it was perfect for what we needed. Can't fault it.

The bed was really comfortable, but I only got two pillows. The staff are lovely and the location is great. The road leading in needs work, and my room let the place down: shabby furniture, carpets that looked completely worn, and a grubby bath with a big sticker trying to hide its problems. Such a shame, because this place could be great. It needs a makeover.
