There was no food or drink available during our stay, but we'd known in advance and planned around it. We found lots of supermarkets, including Asda, Aldi and Tesco, as well as restaurants and takeaways within a 10 minute drive. The gym and pool were okay, and the hotel is well placed for Dundee and the surrounding area. The rooms are nicely decorated and warm and cosy, but ours had a damp smell, which I think came from people walking over the carpet after using the bath or shower. Reception gave me some febreeze, and that helped.
We thought it was good value for money. The hotel is on the outskirts of Dundee and was very quiet until some inconsiderate guests talked loudly in the small hours on our last night. Our room had a fridge, which was a nice extra, and the shower was great, with a strong spray and plenty of hot water. There was enough space, but the tea and coffee setup was in an awkward spot. The storage heater didn't work, so they brought us a portable one that soon warmed the room. We left the room refresh sign out after our second night, but it had been turned around and the room hadn't been done. We had to go to reception for towels, clean mugs and tea and coffee supplies.
Edit: The company promised a refund, but it still hasn't arrived, even after I contacted the email address in their reply. The place was lovely when we arrived, and the room was well equipped, with a comfortable bed. The pillow arrangement was odd, two large ones on one side and two small ones on the other. The bathroom was a good size, with both a bath and shower. But the toilet had clearly been used and left unflushed. The spa has a pool, a very good steam room, a sauna and a gym. The men's changing room had a lighting problem, and its showers were out of use. We had a lovely evening out in Dundee and got back just after 11 pm. In the early hours, the couple next door started arguing loudly and kept going. I called reception, and they said someone would come. We heard nothing, though the argument seemed to stop. Just as we were nodding off, doors slammed and someone was retching in the hallway. I called reception again. This time there was a knock and some quiet murmuring, but the argument started again as soon as the door closed. They eventually stopped or made up, but it was 6 am by then, and neither my husband nor I could get back to sleep. When we spoke to reception, we asked for a manager. We were told none was available, then that there wasn't one on site. The young man at reception had no way to reach anyone, though he seemed to try texting and got no reply. I left my number and asked to be called first thing Monday morning. Nobody called, so I rang at 11. When I pressed the option for reception, the call ended every time. Eventually I called to make a booking and got through to someone, who passed my complaint on to the manager in Dundee, Sean. I was apologised to and promised a full refund within 48 hours because we'd booked through Expedia, but that didn't happen. When I called again, they couldn't even find our booking reference. I finally got a direct number for Dundee and spoke with Sean. He told me the night receptionist had spoken with the couple, but was frightened because the woman was "half naked and the guy off his head on drugs". The receptionist was off duty. Surely the police should have been called at that point? Wasn't there some duty of care? I asked about the refund, but apparently the manager can't issue one and it could take seven days. We'll see. This was an unmitigated disaster, badly managed and understaffed. I won't return to the Oyo Landmark Hotel or recommend it.
Our family arranged a wake at this hotel for 50 people this morning, and the way we were treated was disgusting. The conservatory was set up nicely, but after we arrived we waited for the food we'd arranged in advance. Twenty minutes passed without service or anyone to speak to us, and we were getting anxious. We eventually found Darren, the restaurant manager, who did nothing to improve things and said the food would take a while because of "some issues". Darren and his team communicated very poorly. Our guests sat waiting for almost two hours with nothing to eat. We were told his colleague Tony was collecting hot food from another location, but that wasn't true. After two hours, we were told food had arrived. It turned out to be shopping bags of Tesco food, sausage rolls, cup cakes and the like, left on the buffet for us to unpack and serve ourselves at the wake. We were shocked by how unhelpful the staff were and how badly the whole thing was handled. Our group had to leave without the pre-arranged food. It's the worst place I've ever been to. The service was awful, and there was no food. Don't go to this dump. The AI response didn't address my issues, so I'm spelling them out here, as I did on tripadvisor. If I could review the restaurant separately, I couldn't write what I really think here. Never, ever go.
Ashis at reception was a total hero, and the hospitality made this an incredible stay. We travelled with a baby who was having trouble sleeping, and they provided a cot and moved us to another room partway through our stay. After checkout, they held our luggage so we could have one last dip in the pool and sit in the sauna before our flight home. Best spot around here for sure. We'll definitely be back 💖
