Holiday Inn Express Dunfermline by IHG

I had a decent night's sleep, so no complaints. The room was quite big and very clean, with a work desk and coffee-making facilities. I arrived early and they let me check in an hour ahead; there was plenty of parking. It's a short drive to Dunfermline, with a large retail park across the road, including an Asda, other shops and a self-service petrol station. There's also a Harvester pub within walking distance, though I ate in the ground-floor bar and had pizza and a pint. Breakfast was free in the morning. I stayed for one night in April.

Beds are really comfortable, I slept like a log, and the Wi-Fi was reliable. The rooms are the usual HIE standard, clean, well maintained and functional, with the usual amenities. Staff at reception and the bar were friendly, and the hotel was very welcoming. It's handy and easy to get to, close enough to Edinburgh for work, with plenty of local choices for meals and shopping.

The one letdown was my dinner. I waited ages, and when it arrived there was hardly any chicken in the chicken makhani, so I'd avoid that dish. Otherwise, it's a cosy, comfortable hotel with nice staff and plenty of parking. It's just off a main road but far enough back that there's not much noise. Breakfast was lovely and there was plenty of it.

The beds were really comfy, and the staff were friendly while still professional. Breakfast was lovely and plentiful. There was shampoo and shower gel in the room, along with tea and coffee facilities. A great place for a night or a longer stay in the area.
