Royal Marine Hotel

The Royal Marine Horel has great potential. It’s a beautiful location with wonderful views, and the hotel’s history goes back more than 100 years. The US Navel were present in 1965. It seems the whole town was badly affected after covid, but they’re working to improve it and its tourist attractions. The hotel is also in the process of improving. I’d strongly recommend having a phone in every accommodation, especially for older couples, in case there’s a security issue or they need a wake-up call. A bellman to help carry luggage up to the third floor could reduce accidents. More attention to the bar, more help on the floor, better employee security and hospitality, and a focus on making sure every guest’s needs are met could all help. Just a thought. It’s a big, clean and warm old hotel with character, right opposite the ferry terminal. The staff were friendly and helpful. Some areas are still being renovated.

For a cheap hotel, it does what you’d expect, so you won’t be disappointed if you go in with that in mind. The staff gave us stunning service, though, and helped make for a wonderful night at the bar. Fiona especially worked hard to give us a fantastic experience. 10/10, would recommend.

We got a room at the last minute, and the staff were very helpful. It was clean and spacious, with a good shower and all the usual tea-making essentials. Breakfast was included and set us up for the day. I’d definitely stay with them again.
