We were three people out walking when we stopped for drinks, including a pint, after a local recommended this place. We asked for an outside table. One staff member led us through the bar and restaurant, then all the way back outside to the spot where we’d been standing less than a minute earlier. A different waitress eventually seated us and said they’d been busy. Fair enough, we sat down and waited to order. We watched other people get seated and then leave without being served too. Eventually a waitress came over and said she’d get a pad and come back. Ten minutes later, after waiting at least 45 minutes in total, we gave up and left. The waitress who’d kept us waiting saw us go by and didn’t acknowledge us. The place was somewhat busy when we arrived, but there were three staff serving drinks to the outside tables. I don’t know what went wrong. The service was terrible, as if social distancing had been taken to another level.

We spent two nights here recently and had all our meals at the hotel. The food, especially breakfast and dinner, was superb and great value. Our room was very comfortable, and the staff were warm, friendly and attentive. I left feeling relaxed and happy, and loved every minute of the weekend. Many thanks to Barry and his team for making it such a wonderful stay. Xxx

Just got back from a delicious meal at the Cothouse. My daughter and I both had the macaroni, a huge serving that came with chips, salad and garlic bread. It was amazing. My husband had the marinated chicken with rice, salad, potato salad and sauce, and said it was brilliant, the best meal he’d had in a while. Everything arrived piping hot and tasted as good as it looked. The woman serving us was lovely. They’re only just getting back on their feet after the pandemic, but the meal didn’t disappoint. Five star food, definitely recommend.

We were visiting the area and picked this restaurant after checking the Google Maps reviews. The staff were really lovely, the bathrooms were very clean, and the food was delicious. It took a little while to get the bill, but nothing too unreasonable. The photo shows fish and chips and Durban mutton curry (lamb). I’d recommend the place.

We all enjoyed our visit to the CotHouse Inn and would come back. There were six of us, four adults and two children, and everyone chose something different, from fish and chips and steak and ale pie to lasagna and steak. We all liked our meals. The staff were incredibly helpful and attentive. It’s a beautiful place, smartly decorated, with lots of parking and a huge outdoor seating area.
