Old Palace Lodge Hotel

Alex at reception made a great impression, friendly, professional and genuinely helpful from the minute I arrived. The location suited what I needed, and my deluxe room was comfortable and genuinely nice for the night. Breakfast was the letdown: just basic cereal, toast and pastries, with no cooked option, so the choice felt limited. Decent stay overall, though breakfast could be better.

There’s old-style charm in the hotel, while the rooms feel modern. Mine was spacious and clean, and I was especially pleased to have a bathtub in the bathroom. The atmosphere is lovely and quite stylish, and breakfast was satisfying and good.

For what I paid, this felt like fantastic value, and I’d stay again. I was there for three nights and found the staff friendly, especially Alex, who helped me figure out the air conditioning. My modern "Deluxe" room was clean, spacious and bright, with a fantastic shower and really good pressure. The hotel outside the room has a classic feel, with exposed wooden beams and warm, soft lighting. Breakfast was a nice little continental spread of toast, pastries, cereal and fruit, plus a coffee machine. The bar choice was limited, but what they had was solid.

The stay was really good, and the room itself was lovely. A couple of things need attention, though. The shower was stuck on bath mode because of limescale, so we couldn’t turn it on properly. The bathroom also needs a deep clean around the taps. There was nobody at reception in the morning to tell about these issues.
