The flat gave us plenty of room to spend time together or have space to ourselves, so it worked really well for a family or a group of friends. It’s in a lovely spot, about a 15-minute walk from Craster, with a nice coffee shop nearby and a pub just two minutes away. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and the bedrooms were comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped, and the washer and dryer came in handy since there’s nowhere outside to dry clothes. There’s also a sink downstairs and a place to hang clothes and wetsuits, which was great for cleaning up. The rooms are spacious, though a little worn and in need of some maintenance. The three bathrooms have two showers and two baths, but only one shower works, and the water isn’t always hot. There’s currently no phone reception, though I think that may change soon. Wi-Fi reaches most of the flat, but not the two master suites. The listing photos don’t make it clear which part of the tower guests stay in. We were on the top floor, reached through the rear entrance. Many of the advertising photos show the front of the property and its gardens, which guests can’t access. The rear garden is enclosed and gets no sunlight. We’d planned to barbecue, but even with fine weather, the lack of light and the aspect put us off. You can see the gardens from the top floor, and the view is lovely, but it’s a shame you can’t use them.

The setting was a real highlight, with a quiet walk along the coast to Craster village and a beautiful hike from there to Dunstanburgh Castle. Our family of seven stayed in the UK for 10 days across three destinations, and Craster Tower was everyone’s favourite by far. The apartment was spacious and lovely, with a kitchen stocked with everything we needed. Mrs. Craster had hot tea, homemade scones, and freshly picked flowers ready when we arrived. We had a wonderful stay.

What a beautiful old building, over 300 years old, and such lovely architecture. I heard about the house because Audrey sent my mum a postcard when she was on holiday there in the '90's. Mum still has it. I’ve wondered if the Adam brothers, John, James and Robert, designed it. It could be one of their masterpieces, though I wouldn’t be surprised either way. My mum knew Audrey through the old Save The Children shop in Melville Place, in Edinburgh, not far from the West End. Audrey’s son-in-law, Michael, and his family own the mansion. It was lovely to chat and remember Audrey. All the best for the future! Cheers, Vicky xxx. They say old houses have ghosts, so hopefully this one has playful ones, not evil ones!

We had a great family get-together here. There was lots of space, it was comfortable, and it had everything we needed. The owners were kind and attentive, too, and provided what we needed for a lovely week.

Everything we needed was provided, and the host made us feel very welcome. It’s a beautiful, comfortable place, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
