It felt very much like home, with a relaxed atmosphere and a self-service breakfast I liked. Everyone made us feel welcome, and the location is handy for the city centre.

The hosts were really friendly without being over the top, and we had good, plentiful food. A great walk starts right outside, and the location worked well for us. Being dog friendly is a big plus. We have family nearby and would definitely come back.

The owners were quick to answer my questions and helped arrange access even though I arrived very late. The room was clean and comfortable, and breakfast had a good self-service selection with a lovely view. There are beautiful views around the place too, and Durham is walkable if you’re reasonably mobile. Otherwise, the bus is easy to use. The room was reasonably priced, only a little more than basic chain hotels and much nicer in every way. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay again when visiting Durham or the surrounding area. There’s a sitting room inside and a large garden with chairs outside. The rooms were spotless, and the bathroom facilities were top range. Guests can use the kitchen, including a fridge and tea and coffee making facilities, and there’s a serve-yourself continental breakfast.
