The breakfast hamper was tasty, arrived right on time, and was exactly what we ordered. There’s no cooked breakfast, and the pub is the only place to eat within walking distance; our roast dinner there was great. We stayed one night during a recent motorbike tour. The inn was easy to find, with a large car park, and our well-appointed room and friendly, helpful staff made it excellent value. We were impressed for the price and recommend the Fox Hall Inn.

I’d driven past the Fox Hall Inn loads of times, but this was my first visit, for a meal with friends. The place is lovely, with a great atmosphere, a quiet feel, gorgeous views out back, and tables outside for enjoying the summer sun. Service was friendly and genuine, and the food was excellent. I had the beer battered haddock and really enjoyed it. I’m glad I finally stopped in and will come again. It was taken over last year, so older reviews may not reflect it now.

The pie of the day has been amazing both times I’ve tried it, and the portions are big. Honestly, this is the best pub food I’ve had in my life. Service is great, there are good beers on draught, and the beer garden at the back looks out over the hills. It’s a lovely lunch or tea stop on the way to or from the lakes. I’m sure the rooms are lovely too. We’ll be back many times.

The roast beef was pink, which isn’t how I like it, but the waitress checked with the chef and he kindly offered to grill it to suit me. It tasted amazing, more like steak than roast beef. We popped in for Sunday Roast, and the staff couldn’t have been more helpful or friendly. Nothing was a problem. We’ll definitely be back, especially as it’s so handy on the A66.

We stopped just for food, so I can’t comment on the accommodation. The burger and fish and chips were both fantastic, and the service was very friendly. I can’t believe I’ve passed this place so many times without stopping. I’ll definitely call in next time I’m in the area.
