Best Western Kings Manor Hotel

The restaurant’s Indian food was absolutely delicious, and the fries were great too. The hotel also has a pool and jacuzzi, a real bonus when staying with kids. My daughter loved them. Staff were warm and welcoming from the moment we arrived, and attentive throughout. Syed and Rakesh helped make our stay comfortable. Syed went the extra mile and moved us to a club room, which made the visit feel even more special. Our room was spotless, comfortable and well-equipped, and the hotel had an inviting, well-maintained feel. Every request was handled promptly and professionally. We had a wonderful stay, and would highly recommend it. We’ll definitely return.

The room was huge, warm, dark and quiet overnight, and the staff were polite and helpful. We stayed with our small dog after contacting the hotel directly to arrange a dog-friendly room. The location was a big plus: about five miles east of Edinburgh city centre, with the bus stop right outside. It’s around a 25-minute walk to Portobello beach, which was fantastic. We also had a fab meal at an Indian restaurant just off Portobello High Street, then drinks at a place on the promenade. We didn’t eat at the hotel restaurant or use the pool, though it looked good and the changing area was clean when we checked. Breakfast is self-service with a good choice. Staff tried to keep things stocked, though a few items ran low when restocking was delayed. The machine coffee was good. There’s plenty of on-site parking for an extra daily fee. Some parts of the room and hotel could do with a touch-up, but we’d stay again for the location.

Reception staff were helpful and courteous, and the rooms and bathrooms were spacious with very clean beds. The bus connection to the city centre was easy. Parking was good, though it’s charged, and the gym and pool are included, which seemed a great offer, though I didn’t use them. Wi-Fi was free. The rooms had an overpowering bad smell and broken windows that wouldn’t close in the Scottish winter. There was no drinking water in the room, but tea and coffee, a kettle without water, an iron and an ironing board were provided.

A big thank you to Declan and Nicky from housekeeping and Rakesh at the front desk. They were so friendly and professional, and went out of their way to make me feel welcome. Nothing seemed too much trouble, and they did everything they could to make my stay comfortable. Their service made the visit memorable. I had a wonderful stay and highly recommend the hotel.
